Handwoven in Dharmavaram, Andhra Pradesh, this maroon handloom self brocade vintage silk saree is patterned with a temple step-motif in Subham Zari gold zari, a geometric form drawn from South Indian temple architecture. The pallu carries scroll work along its border. Self-brocade weaving keeps the motif tonal with the maroon ground, so the geometry emerges as relief in the cloth instead of as applied contrast. At 850 to 900 grams it carries the substance you would expect from dense brocade work. Traditional in feel and striking on the drape. Pairs well with a contrast blouse. Dry clean recommended.
