In a genuine Dharmavaram pattu saree, the zari border and the saree body are woven separately and then interlocked together — the technique that gives Dharmavaram borders their sharp, contrasting definition against the body colour. Temple arches, elephants, deer, peacocks and floral vines are common motifs.
